Hi Sam! Because of the trouble on the board yesterday my message didn’t get posted. I have been treated homeopathically for my cluster headaches. I cannot say it was successful and at the same time I cannot say it was a failure either. Certain homeopathics did make a difference in the amount and intensity of my headaches. Its possible that if I had stayed with it longer it may have given the Homeopathic doctor a better chance of finding the right one, or the right dosage for me, I don’t know. Here is what I know about the subject of homeopathy:
Marci you were right about Homeopathy in treating “like with like”, however the idea is to use very minute doses of the substance in treatment. In this aspect it is sort of like the treatment for allergies where they try to desensitize you to the allergen, but as I said they use minuscule amounts of the substance. I know that for emergency treatment of say a bee sting, the homeopathic would be Apis, which I believe is bee venom. I have heard first hand of the success in using this emergency treatment for someone who had a life threatening bee sting. (This happened at a county fair and no other treatment was available at the time and the person probably would have died without immediate treatment). In treating yeast problems, yes Marci, you would use yeast, but as I have said in infinitesimally small amounts as opposed to “flooding the body” with it. This idea of diluting the substance not only avoids side effects but also makes it more effective as a remedy. This is just one way in which homeopathy is used. In homeopathy the whole patient is treated, emotionally, physically, and mentally. When prescribing a remedy, all symptoms, both past and present must be taken into consideration. The homeopathic remedy is used to help stimulate the body’s own healing ability. In homeopathy, substances with recorded symptoms are given to a patient with like symptoms. Homeopathy is not new, it has been around for 200 years, it is practiced by fully qualified medical doctors, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and naturopaths. As with any practitioner, some are more skilled and experienced than others. It is important to find someone with the experience, training, and a proven track record to help you in your healing journey.
Take Care,
Bobbie P.
