Triggers! There is for me. I have had chronic CHs now for four years. They started in the confines of an office. It was the Laser printer dust, then the new copier toner.. 6 attacks each day. I'm down to 2 or 3 per day now as long as I stay away from chocolate, cheese, and fish.
Oh PS: I never go to anyplace that uses a copy machine or laser printers whit out having 3 or 4 days of hell.
I use a "very" "hot" wash cloth on the side that is causing the pain..It seems to help me a great deal. Also 100mg of Imitrex will stop the CH thats in progress for me, but after one week I have to change to Zomig at 10mg to stop one. Now then the Doc, prescribed half that amount! But at half the dose it just extends the CH duration for me..Just tried the DEH (dihydroergotamine mesylate) nasal spray today, Plattttttt! didn't do a thing. "Well I think it made my nose more stuffy, and I did get sick from it".
As to helping your husband! Just love him. There's not much else you can do. After an attack he will be VERY depressed and physicaly exhausted, just hold him and tell him you love him. That's all we have to live for, the pain takes everything else.
