I've seen lots of other treatments mentioned on this site, but has anyone given Maxalt a try?
I first started getting CH about 3 years ago and get them for about 6 weeks every 6 or 7 months. They suck but I'm preaching to the choir here. I started using Imitrex pills...too long to act. Then the shots...too much of a rush. Doc said that he didn't like how I reacted cardiovascularly. Me either. Then the nasal spray which worked good but still that uncomfortable heart rush.
He then switched me to Maxalt. The oral dissolve tabs worked great and without the nasty aftertaste of Imitrex. Problem there was only 3 tabs to a pack. I'd go through that in a day and the insurance company (they've obviously never suffered a CH episode) would only pick up the co-pay every 72 hours or so. I then switched to normal swallow tabs that come 6 to a pack.
My question is this. Can you build up a resistance to these things? Maxalt doesn't seem to be doing anything anymore. And if their effectiveness does go away, does it or can it come back?
I only ask because last night as I was discovering this site I had the mother of all CH. This nasty was a 10+ easily and the Maxalt didn't seem to do jack.
