Certainly, one can bolster any position with statistics, but I think "Crazy" Dave may be on to something. Profiles of sufferers link smoking. Nicotine and alcohol are both absorbed more readily into the blood stream than oxygen. I smoked for thirty years without CH, but when they came, they were like a train out of a tunnel at high speed. I haven't smoked for seven years and I still get CH. Dave's point is that permanent damage may be caused by smoking. Here's another little quirk: I believe that some recent attacks of mine could have been caused by second-hand smoke. I am not a crusader against smoking or drinking, having enjoyed both more than most, but I sure feel better when I put oxygen into the blood stream rather than martinis and Marlboros.
