Once Mike learned to stay calm during an attack, it seemed to lessen the ferocity. I'm not sure what he tells himself but I have really noticed that his blood pressure stays down to a dull roar if he stays calm. I know he needs to focus on staying calm and if I'm there (talking to him in a monotone voice for example), I'm sure I would get the response DJ and Drummer indicate in their posts. Please F***O** - ok, maybe not the Please, but you get my drift. Much better to leave the man alone to deal with it and be there in the background if he needs me.
For him, using the ice bag on the back of his neck helps him to achieve the calmer state too as he heats up incredibly with an attack which just adds to the anger which, for him, increases the pain.
There's a lot to be said for this line of thinking. Great discussion!
