Group,
I have considered shadows to be "almost-headaches" since they're so mild, and sometimes they have the characteristics of a Kip 1 cluster, but sometimes more like a sinus headache. Occasionally mine will hang on for a whole day, unlike my usual 90-minute clusters.
On the other hand, I always have what I call "precursors" before an attack: ringing in my right ear, knotted muscle in my neck on the right side, and sort of a twitchy right eyelid. If I'm in a cycle and feel these things, I know the ache will follow in about 10 minutes.
The wierd side is when I'm taking an effective dose of Sansert, Lithium, Prednisone, or Verapamil to prevent the clusters (whichever one happens to work this time) -- I still get the same precursors but the pain never comes. My ear will start ringing and I'll dash for an imitrex to use at the first sign of pain, but I wind up putting it away an hour later...
That's my take experience with it, and from the other posts I'd say it varies quite a bit.
Does the shadow know? Or is it the Demon's tool to remind us he's still around?
PFD's & Lotsa prayers,
Dave
