Since I am replying to your post, I will assume that I am not a member of any “clique”. Besides, I’m all-alone at my computer. Sorry; no prayers. Sarcasm/Humor? Well? I’ll do my best to avoid that. I’ll try the gary g approach. Sending you to the archives or to hell would just be rude and I can’t find a link to remission.com or hemorrhoid.com. So; here goes.
I’ve always considered the “shadows” to be “pain”. Granted a very, very low level “pain”. More annoying then excruciating. Kind of like the Kip Scale suggests. (A level 1 or 2 or3). I can function as a regular normal human being. Sometimes my left nostril is stuffy and my left eye is teary. Sometimes I can sit and relax and breathe Oxygen and the “shadow” will go away. Other times the “shadow” will increase on the “Kip” Scale and I will be less regular and normal and start running for an Imitrex injection and a wall.
I have also experienced times when I have had the stuffy left nostril and the teary left eye and absolutely positively no “pain” and no “shadows”. Sometimes this results in a full blown Cluster attack and sometimes it does not. I believe this is the question that you are asking. "Why and How can a warning sign be activated and yet no pain occur"?
I don’t know. Neurotransmitters working differently during a remission? Differences in the Vascular nature of the brain during remission? Dumb Luck? God? I don’t know. But, I have had similar experiences like you.
