Just tapered off prednisone about 2 months ago and I am still fighting the battle of the bulge! There are really nasty side effects of the stuff of which I think I experienced all. The most important thing my doctor stressed to me was that you can do even further damage by going off the stuff too fast. After being on it for 2 months I was really wanting to just chuck the bottle and get on with my life, but he said that is not the way to go cause you can do big time damage to the adrenal glands. Glad you're going to see your doc, and just to let you know, the side effects (joint swelling, increase appetite, moodiness, etc...) have all gone away for me. I know a lot refuse to take it, but it is the only thing I have found that works in my case. Good luck!
