This year's cluster cycle is the first one for which my favorite drugs (lithium, sansert) haven't worked, and I've just finished my first several weeks on prednisone. It killed off my headaches, and I'm now on verapamil only -- which seems to be keeping them away. Pain Free! Yay!!
The only side effects I noticed while on prednisone were hunger (gained about 25 pounds) and poor temperature control (random hot flashes). However, since I stopped taking it I have had achy joints and muscles, a dull numbness across my forehead, and I'm up between 4 and 8 times a night to empty my bladder. Has anybody else experienced symptoms like this from prednisone withdrawal? I tapered a little more rapidly than I was told to.... I'm going to see the doc tomorrow or Thursday if it doesn't abate, but as always I prefer to carry your experience with me when I go.
