No Education here, just my account of a bad Monday. So stop here if you want to.
After being down babysitting the Beast for 12 days, got a little behind in my business. Today had a lot to do, people to see, and things to do. I start out, pick up the banners I need to deliver to a school for Open House tomorrow and was on my merry little way to the school. Went about 3 blocks and my Little Bronco II XLT started making this sound. I turned off my audio book I was listening too and checked further, about that time the Check Engine Light came on. I was in Fort Oglethrope, GA, I knew where there was a little service station that still worked on cars about 1/4 mi away. I get there and guess what, It had a note on the door and said last day was July 3, 1999, we have closed up shop. I opened the hood (which I hate to do, I am only 5'2" stretching it and still have to reach with all my little toes will allow) and it is hot (no it didn't register hot on my gauges, you men, so don't say dumb blond thing) I saw steam, smoke, or whatever and some antifreeze (green stuff) dripping on stuff under there and realized major problem. My nephew owns a wrecker company, so I pull out my little trusty cell phone and call for him to bring the rollback and pick me and the Bronco up. Of course he asked me what was wrong, I don't know what is wrong, I am a woman. I just fed it (filled up with gas) not over 15 mintues ago, what could possibly be wrong! Thank goodness I called the school explained my situation and they sent a staff member to where I was to pick up their banners for Open House tomorrow. B U T WHAT DO I DO NOW!!!! I have lots of things to catch up on thanks to the Beast and his extended stay of 12 days.
I have to look at the bright side. God was looking out for me because this could have happened to me in the middle of Downtown Atlanta or should I say HOT ATLANTA, because it was sure hot on Saturday. There me and Claudette (she was following me in her van) would have been in the middle of the freeway and a long way from home. (For those that don't know, Claudette came from Missouri to visit me Friday and on Saturday we were going to visit Elaine and other fellow Clusterheads, Kip and Judy, from Florida. So, I have to look on the bright side, it could have been worse.....I have to keep reminding myself
SUSAN, DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF.
No one got killed, my truck can be fixed, and there isn't anything I can do about it now.
Besides all that, I actually got to play golf yesterday and the Beast at least didn't ruin my golf game. I shot an 89. Not bad for A Dame. I haven't even hit a ball, practice or real game since July 4th week. I didn't or couldn't even think about playing golf (bending over to set up your ball, pick your ball up out of the cup, no way - The BEAST DOESN'T LIKE THE HEAT OR GOLF.
I had a wonderful time at Elaine's on Saturday and met some really cool members of our family.
Thanks Elaine for the hospitality, good food, and good company.
