Yes, on one or two occasions, I've been 'triggered out' of a heavy shadow that I would have bet was on it's way to a fullblown headattack. Once was when a very old friend I hadn't spoken to in years called me out of a clear black sky (it was late at night) just to say hi.
The other time is one of my favorite life-memories. My daughter was 8 and it was 'our weekend' together. I knew my cycle was in fullbloom and dreaded what might happen. She'd seen me get attacked before, but it had been 2 years earlier and at 6, she just got scared. Since parenthood doesn't come with an instruction manual, I made up the rules myself and decided to have an 'adult' talk with her right up front, so that she'd understand what might happen.
An hour later, the demon came knocking on my head. With the perception only children seem to have, she took one look at me and immediately knew what was going on. She moved from the chair to the sofa next to me, picked up my arm and put it over her shoulder and laid her head on my chest. She held my hand and said, "It's going to be okay, Daddy."
Take that Demon.
