David,
I have very good success with Verapamil, my attacks are only 2's or 3's on the official Kip scale, easily aborted with 5-10 minutes of O2. I take 480 mg/day, 3 times 120 mg for breakfast, dinner and towards midnight (I use the 'fast' release version). During remission (which is overdue after a 6 month bout) my neuro suggests that I take about have the dose, in this way it kicks in faster when the next bout starts. I think it is VERY important to take a high enough dose and I may relate some experience towards this: After my neuro gave me some Naratriptan to get through the night, he suggested to cut back a little on the Verapamil, but after 3 days on 400 mg I got an attack 3 Kip points higher than usual. Just to rule out some freak effect I did this reduction again a week later, but the outcome was the same. I don't have any side effects and my blood pressure which was always rather low did not change, about 130/70 mmHg (I think that's another unit than you use).
I hope Verapamil gives you a pain free time,
Ueli
