Hello all. I'm new to this site but unfortunately not
new to CHs. I was diagnosed six or seven years ago after the "usual" hit-and-miss diagnoses. Just having
a real diagnosis was a load off. Knowing that it wasn't undetected tumors, stroke, etc. It took awhile
to find a combination of meds to halt the chronic nature of the beast. I now take 900 mgs of lithium and
75 mgs indocin daily. This seems to work fairly well.
Oh yeah, because of the lithium, my thyroid needs a
daily supplement, too. All of this has basically changed my chronic CHs to episodic. I seem to get one or two episodes a year. I take imitrex pills, suck oxygen, and begin the prednisone count-down--which I am doing presently. Two of my worst episodes occurred while on vacation...nothing worked. Due to the warnings to one of the group members not to relax too
much, can I assume that this may be common?
I've enjoyed reading the message board for the last couple of days or so. You are obviously a caring group,
most of whom "are there", "been there", or with someone who "is there". Here's to ya!
