When I was in the Army, back in the late ’fifties (when nobody had any idea what The Demon was), the first day of three-day passes to Amsterdam, my favorite European city, was always effed up by a cluster attack. This didn’t happen on my first trip to the ’Dam, probably because I didn’t know how much - and what kind of - fun that I was going to have. But, every time after that first time, The Demon was there to greet me as soon as I got off the train. And there was the lady right here on this board who had the horror story of her lifelong dream of a trip to the Caribbean islands destroyed by The Demon. Just how in hell does IT know how to hurt a person when it really will hurt the most?
