Welcom John! You started about 6 years younger than I did, and you are one year older than I. So we are about in the same boat. If they are going to put you on steriods, it will probably Prednisone. Two years ago, I was in a bad CH season. I took 20 mg of Prednisone for 10 days. It stopped the CH from the very first pill. I was free of CH for two years. (I should have been told to taper of the Prednisone . . . I had what felt like a bad sinus headache and was sick at my stomach for two days after stopping. But lots of people don't taper off, and have no side effects at all . . . like my wife). That's the good news. Then last December, I started taking 40 mg of Prednisone for a blocked vein in my left eye, and was on it for about 4 months. When I stopped taking the Prednisone, I went immediately into my current CH season (from 17 Apr 99 so far). I went back on the Prednisone to stop the CH, but it had no effect. So then I had to taper off the stuff all over again. The two side effects that I had with Prednisone was that I was restless (I got lots of stuff accomplished) and I was irritable. But with those doses, don't worry about becoming the incredible hulk . . . it won't happen. Good luck with your try at whatever you're given to stop the CH. Again, welcome to OUCH!!!!!
