I've had what might be called Nerve blocks, but I think mine was called Trigger Point Injections, I don't know the difference. It helps some and others it doesn't.

The MD anesthesiologist used a steroid and something to numb it at the sametime. It stopped the year long cycle I was having after 5 or 6 injections every 10 days. In fact, with the pain coming back I have an appointment with him the 24th for the injection. Lets hope it helps again!!!!!! It's very very expensive tho.

You really do need to have someone who knows what they are doing to do it!! He goes in between the teeth and lip up to under the eye and also goes towards the temple with a needle of the stuff. I can kind of feel the needle and sometimes I can feel the medicine come out into the tissues. He goes slow so the med can get into the tissues. To me it's like putting the med right where you need it to calm the nerve down. I've also heard of them doing it thru the roof of the mouth but that is not were my worst pain is. He has also gone right into the temple from the outside and across my forehead.
You swell up right away and I'm numb but that goes away. It sounds terrible to have it done but it's not really that bad...you just don't want to move when the needle is up there!

The doctor wrote it down for me what he used but I can't read all the letters...you know doctors writting.
You can email me if you like and I will email you back what I can read and with the blanks letters in place where I can't read.

I don't have reg clusters but atypical clusters.
