Laura:
I've been on Verapamil since December, and here's
what I've found.
--I noticed a small difference within a few days.
However, it took about 2 weeks before the effect
was major. It was miraculous. It takes a while
for this med to work, so don't get ahead of yourself.
Give it a chance.
--With that said, you are on a VERY low dosage for
a clusterhead. You might want to go to 180 mg and
try that for 2 weeks, before jumping up dosage
again. You can get Verapamil in 40 mg tablets. People
with cluster often are on 240 mg, 360, or even
480. Docs are often uninformed and underdose.
--I'm a person who get all my headaches at night.
They wake me out of a sound sleep. Therefore, I
take the Verapamil about 1 hour before going to
bed. (I don't take the slow release form.) Therefore,
I get the greatest benefit of the med while I'm
sleeping. When I tried taking it earlier in the
evening, it wasn't as effective.
Best of luck!
