Two Headaches?

Hello again everybody,

In my first two cluster cycles in 1991 and 1995, I had no reason to pay much attention to the various symptoms of my illness. Whatever happened during the course of those cycles was after all only going to be my own experiences and there was no way then of sharing those experiences with others. I therefore just took the pills and tried to ignore the illness as best I could.

This cycle is different as we now have a forum for exchange. I am therefore taking much greater notice of what is happening to me because I now know that others may be learning from my experiences as I learn from theirs.

I have come back on the board again tonight to report on a new experience for me, or one I have only taken notice of this time round, and to ask if any one else has had the same experience.

This may sound perverse, but I have a headache tonight! It started several hours ago on the left side of my head. My clusters affect the right side of my head.

Now I have read that on rare occasions the cluster may move from one side of the head to the other. I believe I also read that this changing of sides does not occur during a cycle - but I maybe wrong on that point

The odd thing is I am still getting a shadow cluster in the usual way on the right side of my head. What is taking place on the left seems to be a normal headache. It has been with me now for several hours. It doesn’t seem to be varying much in intensity (contrast a short “explosion time” for a cluster). It maybe a little more than irritating from time to time but it is almost definitely an ordinary every day type of headache. It has probably been brought on I guess by so much interrupted sleep over the last few days.

Now I suppose my point is this: I have put forward the view that we are not just suffering from an aberrant form of headache, because a headache doesn’t last for weeks, months or even years. What I am asking myself, therefore is this: how can I tonight be suffering two different forms of headache, at the same time, on different sides of my head?

Has anyone any similar experiences or comments to report?

Bye

Laurence
