Cathie:
I am the sufferer of CH and have a wonderful and supporting husband. I am in remission now, thanks to lithium, but when I was getting the CH, he was there for me for whatever I wanted. Most of the time, just having him in the same room was enough for me. He would follow me around when I paced, just making sure I was ok. He has tried to calm me down by rubbing my back and shoulders, but learned quickly I didn't like that during a CH. It was very helpful AFTER the CH! Ask your husband what would make him feel best during his attacks. Maybe if you do "follow him downstairs" just to be near him, that may be enough. I also used Imitrex injections when I was getting the CH. My husband helped out by loading and unloading it for me - one less thing for me to concentrate on. He also timed how long the CHs lasted, wrote down the information in my journal of CHs, etc. Little things like that were very helpful to me. Now I am going to start weening myself off the lithium starting tomorrow. Hopefully, I am done with this cycle and won't have anymore CHs.
Good luck to you and your husband!
