My name is Joanne and my husband has been suffering for 20 years. We've been to several doctors and diagnosed clusters 15 years ago. He never had any relief. Over the counter meds did nothing, and he refused to take pain killers which could become addicting. About 6 years ago were we able to get the imitrex injection. I cant believe how well it works for him. he now has a wonderful doctor who prescribes the imitrex in vial form so that I can give him 1/2 or 1/3 of the dosage instead of the full dose. This permits him to get up to 6 injections per day,( i got this idea from this website!) and if you're a sufferer you understand how important that is. Dan will start to take an amerge pill before he goes to bed, tonight. Maybe we will sleep throught he night tonight. If not he can use 1/3 shot. This approach seems to work. Our only saving grace is knowing that Dan's headaches will leave soon. The cycle usually lasts no more than 2 months, and comes back once a year. If you haven't tried Imitrex and have bad clusters...you must try it, I see how much it helps. The other imitrex products Spray and pill, dont help Dan much. The pain is too intense... too quickly for them too work. The shot is almost immediate. he gets a littlegroggy if he gets it in the morning, but at least he can get to work.
