I'll be 33 next month and am in my 25th year of cluster headaches and have tried every med you have and then some.A Dr. even removed a third of my stomach when I was 15 for the headaches! And every other Dr. told me to learn to live with it.You don't have a life to live with these headaches, the least they could do is help us tolerate the demon!!!I wonder what these Dr's would do if they got one of our headaches for 20 minutes?!(They be grabbing for everything they could get their hands on!)
You have to keep going to different Dr's until you find someone that has compassion.I finally found one two years ago and she gives me all the med's I need to help with the pain. She always says"I don't have the answer for Cluster Headaches right now but that doesn't mean you have to suffer until I find it". She is a God send, and has saved my life.I am now on Duragesic Patches that I wear on my upper body and change them every 60 hours. And I take demeral and visteril when the pain breaks through.I now have "less pain days".(I'm chronic so I am greatful for what I have, some day I'll be able to say "pain free" but in the meantime this is heaven.I haven't been with out pain for any amount of time for over twenty years.)
Keep searching,Don't let that Dr. think there is nothing anyone can do.There is compassionate Dr's out there.KEEP SEARCHING.Good luck.I hope you have "pain free days" ahead of you soon.
If there is anything I can help you with, you can email me or just respond and I'll do anything and everything I can to help.Welcome to our family and Good Luck to you.
Love and Prayers,
Dawn
P.S.I call my ice pack my teddy bear. That is what I have been taking to bed with me and carrying around with me(I keep an instant one on me at all times!) since I was 8 years old. That does help so keep doing that.
