Yes fortunately and unfortunately high enough doses of prednisone work for me as a preventive also. However, if I had it to do over again I would do anything to stay off prednisone. The irreversible complications I now have are pretty bad; Osteoporosis, back problems, early signs of cataracts and glaucoma, umbilical hernia, stretched stomach, round read face, constant foot pain, and hemorrhoids are just a few. And now when I try to get off it, I've been told to expect muscle achiness and weakness that could last a couple of years. Granted I didn't get this way overnight, but when seems to work the best it's difficult to stop using it. I know we all need the relief, I just think there has to be a better way han sacrificing the rest of your body.
