One side effect listed for Verapamil are swollen ankles or legs. This follows directly from the relaxation of the smooth muscles around the veins.
However, cramping and twitching in the foot has something to do with the striped (skeletal) muscles, and these are *not* affected by Verapamil.
Although Verapamil reduces the Calcium concentration in the receptors of smooth muscles, it has no influence on the general Ca-ion concentration in the blood. Therefore, I don't think there is a connection between Verapamil and your leg problem. But there is good news too, should you find some sort of medication to increase your Calcium, to cure the cramping and twitching, there will be no interaction with the Verapamil use for CH.
