Reaching the mean and nasty stage of this cycle here. Trying Verapamil for the first time as a preventative. Not sure if I've not been on it long enough or not (since 1/15/02). Recently upped it to 2 pills a day. Also on Zomig as an abortive. This stuff is pretty good in that department. Just got scrip for Zomig for 18 whole pills (a month's supply!) at a $50 copay. Also learned that the same amount would cost a whopping $342 without insurance!!! Yikes! Have to jump through hoops and walk fire almost to see a neuro under this ins (so I don't have one at present. By the time I got in and passed all the new blood tests and new MRIs, this cycle would be winding down. I hope). No guarentees the neuro will know how to treat CH as it really needs to be treated. Question: I've looked at the prior posts for Maxalt and Amerge, some people love both, with some people also saying both were so/so effective. If I were to chose one or the other, which one has been found the most effective and which is lighter on the old insurance copay? Also, could either be effectively used as a preventive? (Provided you get more than 9 tabs at a time for a whole freakn' month's supply!) (I hate having an insurance plan that is supposed to be an employee bennie, when it takes so much time AND money to use it for my benefit!!!!!! I know, I am not the only one going thru this "managed health care maze." I also know that insurance plans are a very expensive item for companies to have too.) Thanks for listening and PFD&N to you all!
