I had a horrible episode yesterday that lasted about 12 hours. I'm fortunate in that I only get the attacks every three years but the intensity is unbelievable. So far, demerol is the only thing that has helped me but yesterday I had 600 miligrams (over three times the normal dose) and it barely touched it. Has anyone any advice on the possibility of lessening the intensity with some medication before the onset of the attack? I started getting them three days apart and now its every day. I was wondering if anyone takes the meds around the clock or only at the onset of the pain. Any assistance would be appreciated. I'll check back later.
