I've been an episodic CH sufferer for 13 years and a reader of this message board since it's beginning and it has been a great support. My past cycle has left me puzzled, so I thought I would throw it out there for some feedback. My cycles are usually 1-2 years (never closer than a year) apart and last no less than 8 weeks. This last one started in November. I had tried Topomax for the first time (up to 200mg/day), but it didn't seem to help and I stopped taking it 2-3 weeks into the cycle. I did notice that the Imitrex (injection) was working faster than it ever did while on the Topomax and went back to its normal effectiveness after I was off of it. Then at only 4 weeks into the cycle they went away. Now 6 weeks after they stopped I am having headaches again. A couple of times I woke up with a 3 or 4 and kept telling myself it was a sinus headache. I had an 8 tonight and I know that they are back.
I guess my questions are:
Has anyone had a similar experience with Topomax improving Imitrex's effectiveness?
Could my CH's coming back after a such a short time be an indication of going chronic or perhaps they just took a break and now I am finishing the cycle I started in November?
Thanks!
