The feeling that I get is something like a swollen gland in the front of my neck, almost under my lower jaw and not on the back of my neck. Always on the right, which is the side of the attack. That's where the pain usually starts before it races up the side of my face and focuses on my temple. Of course, by the time it hits my head, I have no idea if my neck still hurts. For me, it usually happens pretty quick. I talked to the neuro about it and he had a name for it and I would like to say it was "carodiditis" but I guess I should have paid more attention. He says it has something to do with the blood flow through the carodid artery. Hope this helps. Good luck.
