The claim that LSD damages chromosomes in sperm cells or egg cells or ANY cells is a myth that has been debunked many, MANY times. There is no clinical evidence whatsoever for this claim, no studies that even SUGGEST that this may be the case.
It was part and parcel of the DEA's attempts to demonize LSD in the late Sixties. When called upon to provide a single scientific paper to support their claims, they huffed and harummphed and eventually backed down, muttering, "Well, it COULD damage chromosomes! There's no proof that it doesn't!"
For some reason, even books published fairly recently will sometimes trot out this hoary old chestnut, presenting it as a fact rather than the easily-checked Urban Legend it is.
I'll bet the book you are referring to does not list the source of this claim in the footnotes or the bibliography, am I right?
