Just don't know. After taking the shrooms on Saturday, I had a 15
minute - Kip3 that evening. Sunday I had 2, 10 minute - Kip2's. Had a
15 minute Kip 7 around midnight on Sunday. Monday morning I started
one of those prednisone dose packs (6 tabs the 1st day, 5 the next, 4,
3, etc). I haven't had a headache since the Sunday midnight one (2 1/2
days ago).
My shortest cluster ever was 5 weeks long. 10 to 12 weeks has been
more the usual the past few times.
If they don't come back, this one was 1 week of really wimpy headaches.
I finish the dose pack on Saturday. If they don't come back I'll give
the credit to the shrooms (I've taken prednisone before and it didn't
help my clusters).
I feel really good this morning. Clear headed and lots of energy.
Let's see what the weekend brings.

I realise this is open to interpretation, but you experienced some disruption to your headaches. That email was what I based my understanding on. The type of disruption you mention is classic of taking a hallucinogen during an episode. So while you didn't get the end result, I feel it is unfair to state categorically that they did nothing. I conceed that there is no proof that it was the shrooms causing the disruption, but an open verdict would be fairer.
Also, and this part I do take excpetion to - you initiated a course of pred before the shrooms had a chance to work. you also conceed that pred has never had that effect before.
I beleive it is unfair of you to claim that the shrooms failed you. To a certain extent you failed them by starting the predisone. I also note that where verapamill does not appear to interact (much) with shrooms, I know of other failures that involved pred. Pinky - do you have any instance of someone getting shrooms to work whilst taking pred.
Also assuming that you curtailed the pred use later, and subsequently endeavoured to do the shrooms with little more than O2, I would point out that by that point your CH was well established. You are aware that from my own experience it can become impossible to shift an episode once it reaches a certain critical mass. I have also maintained that I get hit least of all when I take the shrooms between episodes (it's just harder to prove to myself that they were responsible for not getting hit).
