what he would like. DO NOT ASK WHILE he is having an attack. Ask when he is calm and pain free. He may say something like "Don't talk to me, don't touch me. Just leave me alone". Please don't take it personnally. That's just the way it is.
What he really means is "I need you and want you near. But please, not during an attack".
