I also subscribe to the serotonin (or lack of it) theory but during REM sleep, not while awake. Maybe Sean can try this with his hypothalamus-circadian-clock-theory……….
My work schedule is….
Midnight to 8am for 7 days, (graveyard shift)
2 days off and return to normal clock time,
8am to 4pm for 5 days, (day shift)
4 days off normal clock time,
4pm to midnight for 7 days, (swing shift)
2 days off and return to normal clock time,
8am to 4pm for 6 days, (day shift)
2 days off normal clock time,
return to the top and start over.
I started this rotation 33 years ago but the clusters didn't start until 5 years later. Why?
I normally have a break of about 3 years between cluster cycles. The work shift rotation stays the same during the break. Why do the clusters stop?
For the first half of 2001 I had daily shadows but no attacks. The work schedule was the same. Why no attacks?
The work schedule rotation is year round and my clusters show no favoritism as to what season or month it is Why?
If anyone should have a screwed up circadian clock it would be me. I go through many weeks either a day ahead or a day behind the real world. The way I read Sean's theory I should have clusters all the time or not at all.
Until I see more solid proof of the hypothalamus-clock-out-of-balance theory I'll stick to my first sentence.
