I called the doctor's office yesterday. When they answered the phone I said I need to see the doctor. When they asked what for... I said CHEST PAIN. After arguing with them about whether I should hang up and instead call 911, I was told to come in immediately (I knew it wasn't "that kind" of pain or heart pain, but hey...if they want to see me immediately... why not).
Anyways, the doctor decided it is "costochondritis" which is an inflammation of the cartilage that connects the ribs to the sternum. It has one similarity to CH... if you move just the right way, or cough, it feels just like somebody stuck a knife or icepick in your chest. Best treatment is Advil or Naproxin.
