thank God clusters are not continual pain. Folks could not endure that. The typical cluster attack builds from nothing to maximum pain endurance then back to nothing. There is pain free time between attacks.
Have you had your blood pressure checked? I have a friend who complained of pain like yours, starting at the back of his head, no pain freedom, elevating when blood pressure rose from exertion (such as arousal or physical exercise) and it turned out his b/p level was scarily high and was a cause of an aneurysm that burst in his kidney.
The good news is that it doesn't sound like you have clusters, but you should definitely keep trying to get to the cause of your pain.
Best of luck to you.
