I recently took a trip to California on United Airlines. I am chronic so it is necessary for my to carry meds, needles & syringes with me at all times.(To abort I have to use an IM injection of Phenergan & Nubain). I got a prescription from my doctor which states that I suffer from Cluster Headaches and am required to carry my stuff with me at all times.
I always carry it in a zip lock baggie all together. I show it to the security people before I place my purse on the belt or walk through. I went through Dallas (DFW Airport) without any trouble.
In San Francisco, I gave my baggie to the security guy. He made me take everything out, took the whole thing to 2-3 other security people, had me walk through, sent the baggie through x-ray, checked it out again, wanded me, walked me to the supervisor who said I was fine and let me go. I was then later pulled from the boarding line where I was wanded again and had my purse and baggie rechecked before being allowed to board.
Point is if you carry syringes, needles, etc. with you when you travel, make sure you take the time to get a note from your doctor. I don't think the guy in San Francisco would have let me go through with my stuff any other way.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS & GOD BLESS!!
