Got back from my neuro today. My lithium level is 1 point away from the top limit (in other words, “perfect” he said). All my other tests were fine – thyroid, liver, etc. He and my optometrist thought I had glaucoma though, but it turned out to be that I have aberrant optic nerves that look like glaucoma and I have to be tested every year to be on the safe side. The plan with the lithium is to gradually reduce (it is not necessary to taper lithium as one would prednisone, but probably wise to do it gradually in case CH break through – takes 3 days to reach a particular blood lithium level…) around the first of the year, when my cycles have historically ended. Crossing my fingers for that time!!
