I started on Lithium about 10 years ago. I am episodic, typically twice a year about the time the clocks change. At peak 2 to 3 headaches a day. Once I am solidly on lithium, typically about 2 weeks, the headaches stop. I used to take 1200 mg a day, I weigh about 175 pounds, and that's what the neuro said I needed. I experienced a slight body....slow down....for the first 2 weeks I'm on it, then I really don't notice much of an affect on me. Last year, Johnny told me to try it at 600 mg. just finishing a cycle and 600 mg worked great. Haven't told my neuro yet, he gets all peeved when I experiment. First and foremost, I believe doctor knows best. So stick with what he says. But if after 2 weeks it aint stopping the headaches at the dosage you're at, it's possible lithium won't be the miracle for you that it was for me. If after a few weeks the headaches appear to be blocked by the lithium, try backing off your dose. I assume you are doing regular blood work to have your levels checked because lithium can be toxic if levels get too high. Good luck to you.Joe S
