As explained to me, verapamil is a calcium channel blocker and dialates blood vessels. Most other CH meds. constrict blood vessels. When you take too much verapamil (too much would be different for each person) the vasoconstrictors cannot overcome the dialation effects of the verapamil, hence incredible headache as they battle it out. The benefit of calcium channel blockers some from the blocking of vessel calcium blocking NOT vasodilation.
