I'm guilty of it too. This kind of thing was done in every conflict. You're right that some are predjudiced, but I think the rest of us are lazy. I listened to Larry King and Dan Rather last night. Rather, who spent time there, said the Afghanis are friendly and kind. Most have not been far from their homes, or have any real knowledge of the extent or politics of their own country, much less the world. Many have never heard a radio. He said one man walked 30 miles to hear a broadcast. You're right. We find these people easy targets. Their mode of dress and our depiction of all terrorists reinforce simplistic behavior. I have no problem with their beliefs. I have no affection for any, but I don't care so long as beliefs aren't intolerant, and don't get in my way. It must drive crazy the fundamentalists to learn we have a church, a mosque and a temple on the same street. We and they have a long way to go. Anyway, I agree with you, but no way am I about to call the Taliban "alleged terrorists." Some call this weird bunch devote Muslims and possible terrorists. They have it backwards.
