As you know, I've never used the shots. I have taken as many as 6 50mg tabs w/i 24 hours and up to 49 in 14 days (3.5/day avg). The difference, of course, would likely be the speed with which the full dose of the injector reaches the bloodstream, vs. the more 'time release' approach of the tab - this would put more of a shortterm burden on the heart, although I'd guess that longterm (i.e. over the course of the day) the risk is probably comparable. The halflife of Imitrex is roughly the same regardless of the form, as I recall. Amerge has about a 12 hour 1/2 life, I think. If the Amerge works, it should reduce your dependance on the shots, so there would be a trade off in terms of number of doses overall.
