I agree with Jacki. Especially with friends that can't possibly know our pain. on't hold back if they're around when you get hit. Let them see it first-hand. No one can be "in control" like you said, when you're hitting a Kip 8 to 10. It's impossible. I used to try to hide it too when one would hit, I'd go to the farthest reaches of where-ever I was and stifle my screams from friends and family. Then I went to the convention and had several really bad ones right in front of my "second family" I was embarrassed for a while but then I just said "fuck it!! I still try to hide when I'm in public, but no more with family and friends. What they see is what they get. Period. If they don't like it or it makes them uncomfortable, then they can go away. AND...stay away.
