On the Friday before the WTC/Pentagon attack I got a memo saying I had to work the following Thursday, my normal day off. I hate working overtime and had plans for that day. The wife would be working and it would give me time to catch up on some honeydo's, mow the lawn and clean up the yard. But I had to work, damn.
Tuesday morning brought the news of the destruction and terror. I was glued to the radio and TV listening and watching to the horror of America being attacked. I could not believe it and still can't.
Thursday I went to work, 12 hours. The honeydo's did not get done. And here it is Tuesday again and the lawn still isn't mowed. Just seems so trival now.
Holding hands with my wife, talking to my parents, seeing my children and playing with the grandchildren are what is important now.
And doing what we can to help heal America.
Let the damn grass grow!
