For 12 years, Steve and I lived four blocks north of the World Trade Center, and I think CNN is broadcasting from a roof near our building, because the terrace from our apartment keeps coming-up on the video.
Not only is home town under fire, but my very neighborhood, where I walked my dog and drank coffee (and smoked!) on the benches is devastated. Many, many of my former neighbors are still living there, as are friends and former students. I caanot even begin to imagine what life is like there now.
But as a born and raised New Yorker, I know just exactly how tough you all are (I also know that some here think of NYC as Sodom (and fuck them by the way, pun intended)) but please know there's a "local guy" here who is thinking about you every minute of the way. I think I speak for a lot of us.
