These evening, a local tv station did a white paper titled "Monster Headaches." The first half was on migraines, the second on CH's. They followed a 48 year old male CH'er after admission to a pain clinic. At one point, they were filming him through a one-way mirror. He was sitting up in bed reading and suddenly rolled on his side and started scrubbing his left temple on the pillow; he got out of bed and did the dance, pounding his fist into his temple; he ended up in bed, tightly curled in a fetal position, sobbing. (I realised I was crying from empathy.)
The Neuro narrating gave an excellent description of CH's, describing the pain as "raw, incomprehensible." Had I known that it was going to be as good as it was, I would have taped it; I don't see it being repeated -- too bad. I only hope it had a large viewing audience.
