Is he seeing Dr. N. Matthews? If that's the headache clinic you're speaking of - Good luck! Matthews knows more about migraines than CH and treats everyone the same way - like migrainers. I think he's a quack and told him so. I think I left the place against doctors advice, but I didn't plan to go back anyhow.
The DHE is good for breaking cycles. They usually give it IV every 8 hours for about 3-4 days. If the cycle isn't broken by then, they'll give it IM q8h till it breaks. Or at least that's how they did on me. But mine never were easy to break when I was episodic. When I went chronic it was the only thing that would keep them at bay long enough to let me rest.
But the warnings are out that it can cause heart valve damage if you take it too long.
I wish your husband luck with the biofeedback and the diatician and all that other stuff at the headache clinic. But seriously I wish him a break in the CH and some PF days and nights soon.
Hugs. BD
