I have suffered from cluster headaches all of my life. I can remember waking up crying in the middle of the night as a little kid. My headaches are episodic. They usually start in July or August in even years and last for 4 months. I have successfully dealt with the headaches by taking Sansert, Prednisone, and Imitrex injections. Last year my GP put me on Atenolol to control blood pressure. He said that it might help the cluster headaches because it is a calcium channel blocker or beta blocker, I can't remember which. I thought I was cured when my headaches never started last year. I had some twinges here and there, but the spell never started. Well, I wasn't cured! Almost three weeks ago a cluster spell started. I'm going to a new doctor now who is determined to re-invent the wheel. He started me out on Lithium which I feel failed spectacularly. Now I'm on Depakote, Prednisone, and my old friend Imitrex. I'm not sure if this spell has been stopped or not.
