Dave E gave a good overview.
It would really be interesting to know how many of us here at chmb are without insurance coverage of any kind and why.
I haven't worked here in Fla. for a company that offered it in some small way since I moved from Cleveland in 1984. For me, as a single person not sharing the burden with an employer, the cost would be approximately $400.00 per month.
Consequently, I do not have ANY health coverage because I can't afford it. Therefore, I neglect to go to the doc for things that should really be checked out. I was born with a congenital heart defect, saw a cardiologist from childhood until I reached age 53. I am now 64 and haven't seen one since 1990. My GP prescribes my digoxin and Toprol. I've been in the er several times for multiple PVC's (one every other heartbeat) and atrial fib. If I drop dead, I think I'll sue.
When the OUCH membership grows significantly, perhaps we can organize our own insurance plan. ANOTHER REASON to join OUCH. $25.00 per year? Best buy you'll ever find.
