I am 49, episodic, my last cycle , the HAs would kick in at a kip 7, within 5 minutes. I would us imitrex injections,or zomeg pills,, and as the meds kick in the pain would increase rapidly, becoming a a10+ for perhaps 2-5 minutes then the HA desolves away,,this was always the case with imitrex injections,, and zomeg pills,, but not the case with imitrex pills,, which seemed to take efffect slowly,,with out the crecedo of pain. But , I found I would rather have the crecedo of pain , knowing it would all stop in minuts, Rather than wait for the slow relief of the imitrex pills. But , I also found that taking an imitrex or cafrigot pill and then going right on O2,saved me from that 20-45 minutes of pain while waiting for the meds to take effect.I think the pill and o2 method is the cheapest way to go,other than the alternative,(no meds at all)
