Depression runs with CH for a lot of us. We HURT, the pain doesn't stop, nobody understands, we get depressed. That's why we're all HERE. Here everyone UNDERSTANDS. Maybe this will help with the depression. A lot of us take antidepressants - some don't.
Some of us joke and that brings us out of it. Whatever works. But depression is a way of life with CH. Just don't let it get you down. If your family doesn't understand what's going on, we have a support team in Place - Just yell MARGI and she'll get help to you real quick.
About the drugs that work. Check the archives and see what's worked for others. Imitrex is the drug of choice for most, but doesn't work for all. I'm one that it doesn't help, so I can't speak for it. Topamax is my wonder drug, but doesn't seem very popular here for most. We're a varied bunch, so it seems you'll just have to find what works for you. But read the archives and get familiar with what's available so you'll be able to discuss it with your doc. With most of us it's been trial and error - mostly error.
Sorry you have to be one of us, but you've found the right place to be if you suffer with Clusters. Between all of us we're probably the the best versed experts in the field of Cluster Headaches on the planet Earth at this time. Just stick with us and we'll do our best to help you.
Welcome to the Cluster family - and remember our family all suffer from Clusters also, so if they get a little "weird" it's the headaches.... (it has NOTHING to do with them being NUTZ)
Hugs BD
