My doctor tried a round of steroids with me once, but only for about 10 days. The intention was to "lessen the swelling of the arteries" he said. I couldn't really see where they helped much. The headaches were still intense and frequent. But this was also about 14 years ago too. One thing I've found is that what works for one, doesn't necessarily work for another. One thing that seems to help mine, on occasion, is if I catch it right at the onset and read or move my eyes around irradically and quickly, sometimes the headache doesn't get to the "full blown" level. I'm not sure if this makes any sense, but hope it helps. Robin
