Hi Chad,
Wish we were using aloha to say goodbye instead of welcome! Might have meant you'd found relief instead of a future with CH.
Smart moves: Seeing a neurologist, and coming to this site.
I'd suggest you check out the links on the left side of the board here. A mistake I made for years was not understanding the difference between abortive and preventative medications. So, all I was ever prescribed were preventative meds. None of which have worked so far. This area usually takes trail and error experiments with different meds until they hopefully find one that works for you. The abortives will help stop a CH attack much sooner than you've had to go through. The most common seem to be Oxygen and either Imitrex Nasal or Imitrex injections. (The pills are not very reliable and take too long to work).
Wish I had gotten some type of abortives long ago while they were still looking for a preventative!
When you see the neurologist, make sure they know if you have any other existing problems, especially heart or allergies to certian meds.
Let us know how the visit goes, we love to share as much information back and forth with each other, whether a newbie to the site or an old fokie :)
Best of luck and PFDAN's (Pain Free Days & Nights) ahead for you we hope and pray,
Dave
